Additional learning support
At Royal North Shore Hospital School, every student is supported to learn, no matter their medical circumstances. We teach students from Kindergarten to Year 12, from any school sector and work closely with hospital and medical teams, families, students and census schools to ensure continuity of learning during their time in hospital. Our support extends beyond a student's time in hospital, to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of learning.
Support that fits every student's needs
Many students require additional support while they are receiving medical care. We work collaboratively with families, hospital staff and students census schools to create learning plans and adjustments that reflect each student’s health, wellbeing and learning needs.
Additional learning support at our school may include:
- teachers working with families, hospital clinicians, allied health teams and census school staff
- Modifications and learning adjustments to suit each student's medical circumstances
- adapted programs for high potential and gifted students to continue extending their learning
- one-to-one or small-group instruction to maintain literacy and numeracy skills
- ongoing check-ins to review progress and adjust plans as medical needs change
