Learning

At our school, we teach the NSW curriculum and offer many different subjects to support each student’s learning. We know that development of skills in literacy and numeracy are the building blocks for learning and for everyday life. Our teachers use effective teaching strategies to help students achieve their goals.

At Royal North Shore Hospital School, we provide a variety of learning methods, each tailored to meet the individual needs of our students. These include:

We work in collaboration with student's home schools (census school) to support continuity of learning and effective transitions.

Our learning approach

Our teachers work with a wide range of students with varying medical needs, tailoring support to each student’s individual circumstances. We collaborate with families, census schools, and medical teams to deliver education and develop Individualised Learning Programs.

Our approach to curriculum planning is both flexible and responsive, connecting with students learning while also accommodating their medical needs. While our school day is organised into three learning sessions, we tailor the time spent with each student according to their health and learning needs to ensure purposeful engagement and progress.

Learning at our school is student-centred, inclusive and practical. We are committed to equity and access and adjust lessons to meet individual student needs.
